Problem

My laptop comes with OEM installed Microsoft Office 2016 Home Edition, but I want to use the Pro Plus instead. So I install the Pro Plus and activate the products using organization provided KMS.

However an annoying prompt saying “Office is included with this PC. Redeem the product key now” pop up every time I open any Office application.

And I double check the activation status.

Solution

The solution comes from this Microsoft support page.

Open Registry Editor and locate the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\OEM

Export this key for backup then delete it.

Do the same thing for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\OEM

Restart the Microsoft Office and the prompt should be gone.
